Highway collision kills 1, injures 30 on Chongming Island

ONE passenger was killed and 30 others injured in a bus-truck collision today in Shanghai's Chongming Island. Five of the injured are in critical condition, said local traffic authorities.
The accident happened on a highway at 1:10pm when the bus was by a truck that was running a red light, said the bus driver.
The injured bus passengers were sent to hospitals on the island which lies in the mouth of the Yangtze River, north of the city. A severely injured female passenger was airlifted by a police helicopter to downtown Ruijin Hospital for emergency treatment.
She is still undergoing a surgery, the hospital said.
