Hoax alerts bomb squad
A BOMB squad did not find explosives in a car in Baoshan District today after a driver told police he was informed a bomb had been planted in his car.
The driver surnamed Wang has been taken for investigation after the area around Gonghexin Road and Gongjiang Road was cordoned off by detectives, riot police and bomb disposal experts.
Wang told police this morning he had a phone call while driving on the elevated highway near Changzhong Road telling him that a bomb was planted in his car, officers said.
Wang then parked his car at a bus stop on Gonghexin Road and called the police.
The police cordon was lifted around 12:15pm when no bomb was found. A police officer said the call could be a hoax or threat but "whoever led this would be severely punished."
