Hotelex Shanghai promises a bigger, better show this year

THE 2015 Hotelex Shanghai and Fine Food Expo began at the Shanghai New International Expo Center yesterday.
The annual sourcing show dedicated to hospitality products, facilities, as well as design and decor has entered its 24th year.
This year’s exhibition covers an area of 200,000 square meters and occupies 17 indoor exhibition halls and four outdoor exhibition sites.
Exhibitors and vendors from more than 35 countries and regions are showcasing more than 2,000 brands this year.
There are roughly 13 sections including catering equipment, bakery and ice cream, tableware, appliances and amenities, textiles, IT and security facilities, fitness and leisure equipment, food and beverage, coffee and tea, wine and spirits.
Industry participants from home and abroad will participate in a series of competitions for catering professionals. For example, the wine and food tasting activities feature themes such as Italian, Metropolitan France, Japanese food, and Spanish wine over four days.
The 4th China Master Bartender Competition will also take place over the four days, with dozens of contestants from home and abroad fighting for top places in categories such as classic cocktails and “flairtending.”
Miracle Dynasty, a local fine bone vendor, has been participating in the exhibition for at least 10 years, and says the expo has provided a good opportunity to exchange ideas with industry experts and learn about the latest industry dynamics as well as hoteliers’ demand.
“It has become a platform to showcase our annual new offerings and new designs,” Zhao Chunyang, chairman of Miracle Dynasty, tells Shanghai Daily.
Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co later this year plans similar exhibitions in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Indonesia.
