House rules eased

MORE people will soon be able to apply for budget homes as officials announced that the income threshold is to be raised. Families of three or more with a monthly disposable income of no more than 5,000 yuan (US$792) per head will qualify for budget home purchases, said Liu Haisheng, director of the Shanghai Municipal Housing Support and Building Administration Bureau.

This compares to the current threshold of 3,300 yuan per head. And at present, applicants must have assets of no more than 120,000 yuan per head.
