If you love a parade, Expo is place to be

HERE'S a way to get in step when you're at the World Expo: Walk along a parade.

The Expo organizer said yesterday that visitors will be able to follow parades at the site as they wander around pavilions and exhibition areas and make their way out of the grounds.

Five parades with floats will be staged every day of the 184-day event - three on the Pudong side and two in Puxi, with the earliest kicking off at noon and the last show slated to start at 9pm.

They'll take three routes - one on the Puxi site and two in Pudong area - and are likely to be seen by 30 million people, 42 percent of the estimated 70 million visitors.

In Pudong, the parades will strut along the Expo Boulevard with Asian and European pavilions at each side. People who queue to enter pavilions will be able to watch the parades at certain times.

Li Jicheng, producer of the Expo parades, said performers from nearly 60 countries and cities have applied to take part in the parades.
