Illegal cab accusation cuts driver to the bone
AN 18-year-old Pudong driver was so frustrated at being accused of being an illegal cabbie that he went home and slashed his finger with a knife, a newspaper reported today.
Sun Zhongjie from central Henan Province was driving a company van in Zhahang Road about 7pm on Wednesday when a man standing in the middle of the road begged him for a ride to nearby Hangtou Town, according to the Xinmin Evening News report.
Sun said he didn't agree but the man jumped in his van anyway, immediately offering him 12 yuan. "I kept silent all the way."
The man suddenly put 10 yuan in his van about two kilometers down the road and jumped out, Sun told reporters. But an urban management van immediately stopped alongside, then eight men seized the van key and his mobile phone, he said.
After signing an official penalty notice, officials drove away the van. Sun's boss told him off for returning to work without the vehicle.
Sun believed his passenger and officials were working together to entrap him. Later he returned home and cut his little finger with a kitchen knife, needing stitches in hospital.
The traffic law enforcement team in Pudong New Area refused to comment.
