Illegal fireworks set off
FIRE prevention authorities destroyed more than 23,000 boxes of illegal fireworks and firecrackers in suburban Shanghai yesterday in the latest crackdown on the illegal goods since the Spring Festival. The fireworks, assembled in an isolated field, were triggered with fire and explosions as firefighters stood by. More than 30 people have been caught selling or storing such goods. They were fined a total of 350,000 yuan (US$56,302).
