Jail for snatching iPhones

A DRUG addict was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for snatching three iPhones on local subways to buy drugs and pay debts, the Zhabei District People's Court said yesterday. The court said the convict, Xiao Yin, 38, had been in drug rehabilitation several times. Xiao got on a Metro Line 10 train and stood beside a young woman sitting near the door and playing on her iPhone 4S on July 18.
Xiao waited until the train stopped at Hailun Road Station, grabbed the phone and ran out as the door was closing, officials said. The court heard Xiao also snatched two more iPhones that month by the same means and sold all three of the phones for 6,300 yuan (US$1,009).
