Kids lose out as kindergarten shut down
A KINDERGARTEN catering for nearly 100 children has been shut down after being ruled as unlicensed, parents told today's Shanghai Evening News.
Children were denied entry to the kindergarten in Jianding District yesterday morning as staff told parents the school had been ordered to close by the local government.
Parents said most of the children were the sons and daughters of migrant workers on a tight budget.
The children, who didn't have health documents or residence permits, couldn't go to local publically run kindergartens and private kindergartens were too expensive.
The kindergarten had been in operation for one year in a three-story building. Flies were seen in the canteen and the classrooms were crowded, the Shanghai Evening News said.
