Killing and suicide bid in apartment

POLICE are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly killed a 31-year-old woman and then attempted to commit suicide.
The suspect is in stable condition in hospital, said officers.
About 4am on Wednesday, the suspect, from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, allegedly stabbed victim Ni Miaofang with a knife at Ni's home in a complex in Pudong, police said.
"The suspect then stabbed himself six times and was found by police officers in the room," said Xu Xiaoming, an official with the complex's neighborhood committee.
During the incident, Ni's four-year-old daughter rushed out of the apartment calling for help, witnesses said.
"The little girl ran to the police station and told officers someone was attacking her mother," said a neighbor on the fifth floor of the building where Ni lived.
When police arrived she was already dead and the suspect was lying on the floor with several knife wounds.
Police said Ni, a Zhejiang Province native, had divorced her husband, Ye Jianyi, but lived in Ye's apartment for financial reasons. Ye was not at home at the time.
