Last victim dug out, 3 killed by falling building
THE body of a man who was among the three people buried in the rubbles after a four-story building collapsed yesterday has been found and retrieved this morning, bringing the death toll to three.
The four-story building of a garment factory in suburban Minhang District was undergoing renovation when it toppled suddenly at 2:47pm yesterday.
Rescuers recovered a man's body around 6:30pm, dug out a dying woman at nearly 11:30pm, and located the third victim around 1:30am today.
All three victims were confirmed dead and their identities haven't been disclosed.
Eight people managed to escape before the building fell, witnesses said.
Some survivors were renovation workers while others were tenants living in the building, witnesses said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, officials said.
