THE female leader of a gang which kidnapped and sold babies was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday.
The Shanghai Rail Transport Intermediate People's Court convicted Li Wangshao, 44, of organizing 16 gang members to buy or kidnap 21 babies in Yunnan Province for sale in Beijing and Jiangsu and Shandong provinces between 2007 and 2009. Police rescued 12 babies but are still searching for the others.
