Lights fail tests
SOME leading brands of lights, including Colang, are on a local industrial and commercial authorities' quality blacklist issued yesterday and have been removed from store shelves. A Colang ceiling-mounted luminaire was found to have a weak shock-proof device and also could easily cause a fire, said the Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau.
Officials said the light failed the fire test as its material is not fully insulated, and thus vulnerable to fire under heat or spark. Officials said they inspected 50 batches of lights, among which nearly half failed the quality test.
