Lights of wisdom shine at museum
Five interactive installations are the latest exhibits at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum as it undergoes an improvement program.
The new exhibits are on show in the 鈥淟ights of Wisdom,鈥 one of the 11 permanent exhibition galleries.
One is a large transparent plastic box, with blue liquid. By shaking the box, children can see how a tsunami is caused. The museum said another eight installations related to math and mechanics will be added soon. They are designed to encourage children to explore.
Over the next three to five years, six major galleries will be closed for renovation.
Three new science education movies have been introduced at the museum. 鈥淯nder the Sea 3D鈥 takes the audience deep under the waters around Australia, New Guinea and the Indo-Pacific to explore mysterious sea creatures.
鈥淰olcanoes: The Fires of Creation鈥 transports viewers inside a volcano and 鈥淏ackyard Wilderness鈥 focuses on the relations between humans and the natural world.
