Literary classic about Chinese deities to be made into 3-D TV series

The Creation of Gods, a Chinese classic about deities and immortals, will be made into in a 3-D TV series, its producer announced yesterday during the Shanghai TV Festival.
New Culture Media Investment Group said it has obtained a license from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and the shooting of the 3-D TV series will start next year, a company executive, surnamed Ye, said.
The company will invest 3 million yuan to 4 million yuan in the project and the series will be broadcast on CCTV's 3-D channel and several high-definition satellite TV channels. To watch this series, viewers need to have the CCTV 3-D channel on their 3-D TV sets.
The Creation of Gods was written by Xu Zhonglin, an author of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), based on Chinese mythology.
"Two previous films adapted from the novel are poor in technology. We hope the new 3-D version will have none of their drawbacks and bring alive the imagination of the author," said Ye.
