Living Water Park is Puxi visitor favorite
THE Living Water Park of Chengdu, located north of the Urban Best Practices Area, has emerged as one of the most popular spots in Puxi section during the six trial operations of the World Expo site, organizers said yesterday.
Visitors are able to see how rainwater and sewage collected from the Expo site become clean through a water purification system at the park, a miniature of the living water park in Chengdu, capital of southwestern China's Sichuan Province.
Du Qingbo, an official with the exhibit, said instead of the chemicals usually used in water purification, plants are used to turn the water clean enough for people to swim.
About 15 tons of water can be treated at the park every day, while in Chengdu the park is able to purify 300 tons a day.
The park contains about 10 types of plants, including reed and water bamboo, but they haven't all yet become acclimated to Shanghai.
