A MAN has been detained for five days for lying to police about a robbery, local police said yesterday. The man, surnamed Xie, told police on June 9 he was robbed by five men who stole a necklace worth 15,000 yuan (US$2,200) and 280 yuan cash. When police found no evidence on surveillance cameras, he admitted he lied to police to hide the 6,000 yuan he lost in gambling from his family.
