Man arrested by Qingpu police for killing girlfriend

The man who killed his girlfriend in a quarrel has been caught and the victim's body was found in a greenbelt in Zhujiajiao Town, west of Shanghai, Qingpu District police said yesterday.
The victim, identified as Xiao Yan, was in her 20s and came from Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. She went missing for several days before her father called the police on June 2.
Colleagues said Xiao Yan told them that her father was sick and she needed to go home on May 28 to take care of him. Then she was out of contact and her phone was powered off.
Police soon found out that Xiao Yan had a close relationship with a middle-aged local man surnamed Xu, who had no job and frequented local nightclubs. Xu was seen strangling Xiao Yan in a club on May 27.
Police detained Xu for questioning and he admitted to killing Xiao Dan over a dispute, Xinmin Evening News reported.
