Man caught 11 years after killing wife's lover

A man was caught last week 11 years after he allegedly killed his wife's lover in Shanghai, local police said.

The suspect, surnamed Zhu, managed to evade a police manhunt all these years by changing his name, police said.

Zhu, 42, allegedly used an iron club to kill a man he suspected of having an affair with his wife in Baoshan's Miaohang Town in 2000, police said.

After the murder police went to Zhu's hometown in eastern China's Shandong Province, but failed to find him as he had found migrant work in another city using a new name.

Officers matched a cell phone number belonging to his son to a number used in traffic violations in neighboring Zhejiang Province.

After closer investigation they found the car belonged to a man they suspected of being Zhu.

Zhu was finally nabbed last Thursday in Zhejiang's Huzhou city, police said.

Baoshan police said they had seized 211 fugitives since May this year.
