Man charged in swindling case

A man who pretended to be a real estate company insider is being charged with bilking 125,800 yuan (US$19,708) from a local resident who wanted to buy a garage, Fengxian District prosecutors said yesterday.

The suspect, He Yongxin, 48, knew staffers from real estate companies when he did construction work on new neighborhoods. In August 2008, He pretended to be in charge of a high-end residential complex and helped the victim, surnamed Pan, to get an apartment. Pan later asked him to help her buy a parking space in the garage of the neighborhood. He told prosecutors he took altogether 125,800 yuan from Pan.
