Man detained

A man in his 60s has been detained for allegedly attacking a community official guarding the entrance of a residential complex, police said yesterday. The incident took place at 8:30am on Tuesday at the residential complex at Lane 177 Guangxin Road in Putuo District. All residents of the complex had been required to show identification cards when entering to prevent the spread of the coronavirus from outsiders. But one man, surnamed Li, allegedly refused to show his card and pushed an official to the ground. For beating another person, Li was fined 500 yuan (US$71) and will be detained for 10 days, police said.
