Man held over naked pictures

A MAN has been detained for allegedly blackmailing a family over naked pictures of their schoolgirl daughter, police said yesterday.
The 27-year-old suspect, surnamed Ma, was caught at Qibao Town in Minhang District while negotiating with the girl's mother on Wednesday, said Songjiang District police.
Police said the girl, a high school student, met Ma on the Internet last August and fell in love with him.
After chatting online for a while, the two met at the girl's home and had sex, police said. During subsequent sex sessions, Ma took a lot of naked pictures and videos of the girl. He then found out that the girl's family were wealthy and formed a plan to blackmail her, police said.
Last October, Ma showed some of the pictures to the girl and demanded 1,000 yuan (US$146) as a "special printing fee," police said.
On Monday this week, Ma found the girl's mother's car near the girl's school and threw some of the pictures into her car.
Ma later called the girl's family and asked for 50,000 yuan or he would distribute the pictures around the school and the area where the family lived in Songjiang.
The family called police.
