Man hijacks bus with hammer
Shanghai police have detained a man who hijacked a bus with a hammer yesterday.
According to witnesses, the man onboard a No. 990 bus running on Xincun Road suddenly took a hammer for emergency use about 1:30pm and threatened the driver to stop the bus. The driver immediately braked while the bare-footed man claimed somebody was trying to attack him, witnesses said. Police later arrived at the scene and managed to bring the man under control. He will undergo a psychological test for suspected mental problems, police said. The 50-year-old driver and the bus passengers were rescued unhurt.
