Man seized after hospital thefts
A MAN has been detained for allegedly stealing bags, phones, laptops and cash from workers at Shanghai's big hospitals, police said today.
The suspect, a 45-year-old surnamed Ren, was said to have stolen spoils worth about 100,000 yuan (US$14,650) from the offices of Xinhua Hospital, Changhai Hospital and Yueyang Hospital in the space of one month, according to Yangpu District police.
Ren was caught at Baoshan Road Station of the Metro Line 3 at 8:30am on December 30.
Police said a theft of a bag of 20,0000 yuan in cash and a laptop was reported stolen from an office in Xinhua Hospital on December 18. The suspect was seen holding the missing bag on a surveillance video.
