Manhunt for gangsters who stabbed 2 men in Shanghai

POLICE are hunting a gang who stabbed two pedestrians on a downtown street last night due to debt disputes. One of the victims was stabbed "by mistake."

According to witnesses, the brutal attack happened around 8:20pm yesterday on Dingxi Road in Changning District. A few men armed with knives appeared on the sidewalk and rushed to a man standing outside a Tesco supermarket.

A witness surnamed Li said the attackers spoke not a word to the man waiting outside the supermarket and stabbed him in his right hand, causing him to bleed and faint on the ground.

Almost at the same time, the gang leader shouted, "you stabbed the wrong man. It is not him!" And they hurried to the address of 710 Dingxi Road and stabbed another man in white trousers.

A supermarket worker said the first man who got stabbed was waiting for her girlfriend but he was mistaken as the target.

Both victims were sent to a nearby hospital and are now in stable condition.

Changning police said the attack was related with a debt dispute. They are currently waging a manhunt for the gang members.
