Medical services get back to business
HOSPITALS in Shanghai will fully resume general outpatient services by Monday and will gradually resume specialist outpatient clinics, inpatient and surgical services, the Shanghai Health Commission said yesterday.
“Some clinics with high infection risks, such as ophthalmology, stomatology and ENT, will also resume from next week under strict protection measures,” said Zheng Jin, spokeswoman for the commission.
As all hospitals now require patients to make appointments before visits but some old people have difficulty in doing so, Zheng said hospitals will provide guidance and also arrange some on-site reservations.
Zheng said the emergency departments of city-level hospitals had been working around the clock and that patients can also seek treatment at hospitals with the specialized emergency services they need.
Prenatal diagnostic services had never stopped at city-level obstetrics and gynecology hospitals and all hospitals had resumed the service.
Other patients needing regular treatment, such as those suffering kidney failure and cancer, have been continuously served. The commission said it will continue to serve based on feedback from its hotline 12320 and the city government’s 12345.
