Medvedev celebrates Pavilion Day in World Expo

Russian President Dimitri Medvedev attended the official ceremony of the Russia Pavilion Day this morning and said the Russia Pavilion is telling the world the future development priorities of his country.

"We will work on energy saving, medical and pharmaceutical technology, nuclear energy, aeronautics and aerospace development and IT industry," said Medvedev. "I want to invite everyone to the pavilion to have a look at our exhibits, technologies and interactive programs."

Medvedev also launched today a website introducing Russia's participation in Expo 2010. The website "Best City Solution Data Base" is designed by the Russia Pavilion, Shanghai government and the Expo bureau.

To celebrate the Russia Pavilion Day, two Russian sailing ships, Pallada and Nadezhda, are now berthed on the Huangpu River. They came from Vladivostok and will present performances and exhibitions to promote Vladivostok and the city's preparation for the APEC 2012. Visitors are invited to come on board, officials said.

The crew members of the two sailing ships will go to the Russia Pavilion as temporary guides for visitors.
