Metro Line 14 on track to open soon
Metro Line 14 has passed security evaluation before its scheduled opening by the end of this year, Shanghai Metro said yesterday.
The new line, driverless, which passes through Jiading, Putuo, Jing’an and Huangpu districts and the Pudong New Area, will be the last Metro line that cuts through the central districts of the city.
It has stations at some popular local haunts, including Jing’an Temple, Huangpu Road S., Yuyuan Garden and Lujiazui, and is expected to boost links to Jiangqiao, Zhenru and Jinqiao.
There will be 31 underground stations on the 38-kilometer Line 14, which interchanges with 13 other Metro lines.
Due to the land acquisition process, the Longju Road Station in Pudong won’t open along with the remaining 30 stations, Shanghai Metro said.
The length of all Metro lines in Shanghai will surpass 800km after the opening of Line 14.
