Metro checks enrage passengers
TIGHTER security checks in Metro stations have led to two cases of violence in Shanghai, with a middle-aged woman detained for seven days after hitting a female security volunteer, subway police said today.
In Tuesday's incident, a woman surnamed Wang tried to skip the checks while carrying two bags at Line 2's Nanjing Road W. Staion about 1pm, police said.
Volunteer Ye Ping tried to persuade her to have her bags X-rayed, but Wang slapped her four or five times on the face, police said.
Her bags were later found to be carrying no dangerous goods.
Last Sunday, police detained a man who also slapped a woman security guard during a security check on the Metro.
