Metro replaces head after crash
SHANGHAI'S Metro operator has elected Yu Guangyao as board chairman for its listed arm Shanghai Shentong Metro Co.
It also elected Xue Yunkui as independent director in charge of its auditing committee during the first temporary shareholder's meeting of Shentong Metro yesterday. Yu, 50, was appointed to Shanghai Shentong Group in September this year.
The announcement didn't disclose what happened to former chairman Zhang Yan. It follows a crash between two Metro Line 1 trains last Tuesday morning, which shut the line for a morning and stranded thousands of passengers for more than four hours.
Mayor Han Zheng has ordered an investigation into the crash, and Shentong Group apologized to passengers.
The company operates more than 230 kilometers of subway lines in Shanghai.
