Metro's coolers ready for summer

SHANGHAI'S Metro operator has checked the cooling systems on nearly all trains and stations across the city in preparation for summer.

The check, starting in March, covered nearly 500 air conditioners at all stations and cooling systems on more than 4,000 trains on all lines except the Line 10 which is still being testing, today's Oriental Morning Post reported citing the Metro's operators.

The operator expected more passengers to use the Metro network this summer due to the ongoing World Expo and they will add pressure on the network's cooling system.

A technical upgrade was applied to trains on Lines 5, 6 and 8 to enable immediate temperature control on the cooling system.

Passengers demanding temperature changes on trains on other lines can dial the operator's hotline 64370000, where English operators are available.
