'Microblog queen' for talent show
ACTRESS Yao Chen will join the jury panel of the third season of "China's Got Talent," officials said yesterday.
China's "microblogging queen," whose microblog attracts more than 14 million followers, will be back-up judge for Taiwan actress-singer Annie Yi.
Yi, who is shooting an adventure movie in Nanjing, is "highly likely" to miss early episodes, according to officials.
Meanwhile, songwriter Gao Xiaosong, an ex-judge on the show, was released early this morning after being jailed for six months for drunk driving.
The outspoken 42-year-old was popular with audiences on the first two series.
"We will see how genuinely Gao wants to restore his public image," said Lu Wei, a spokesman for the show.
"If he cares and feels sorry about what he did and tries to make things right again, we will give him a second chance."
Local stand-up comedian Zhou Libo, who is confirmed among the three-person panel, is expecting Gao to be back to the show.
"Everyone makes mistakes in life," he said. "I hope Gao has learned a lesson and can make a fresh start."
Recordings of televised elimination rounds at Shanghai Concert Hall will begin on November 15, said a spokesman.
