Minimum wages set to increase
The minimum monthly wage for full-time employees in the city will be raised to 2,590 yuan (US$399) beginning next month, an increase of 110 yuan, and the minimum hourly wage will be lifted to 23 yuan from 22.
The minimum wage does not include premiums employees have to contribute for insurance and the provident fund, or subsidies like food, commuting, housing, overtime and working in special conditions, the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said.
The wage structure is adjusted based on various factors, such as living expenses, the consumer price index, labor costs and the city鈥檚 average salary level.
Meanwhile, the monthly minimum living allowance per person in the city will be raised to 1,330 yuan (US$205) from 1,240 yuan beginning next month, an increase of 7.26 percent, according to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.
The monthly minimum living allowance for minors in families with financial difficulties will increase from 1,615 yuan to 1,730 yuan per person. The subsidy increase will also cover the unemployed and disabled.
