Missing man found dead on mountain
AN elderly tourist from Shanghai who was missing in Lin'an City of neighboring Zhejiang Province was found dead yesterday morning, officials said.
Zhang Quancai, 61, went missing on Saturday while climbing the mountain at the Tianmushan Mountain Scenery Area with two other Shanghai tourists. His body was found on a cliff of a 1,000-meter mountain in Anji City, neighboring Lin'an.
A rescue team from Hangzhou, the provincial capital, finally managed to transport the body down from the mountain yesterday afternoon.
"The body was found in a part of the mountain where local villagers rarely go," said Cai Jiangli, a Lin'an City government official. "We believe that Zhang chose a wrong way down the mountain, and went farther and farther, deep into the mountain."
On Saturday night, drizzle fell after dark and Zhang may have slipped, Cai explained.
