Mom fibbed on paternity, must pay 'ex' 110,000 yuan

A WOMAN was ordered to pay 110,000 yuan (US$17,741) in foster-care fees and compensation to her ex-husband for lying about the paternity of their son and conning the man into believing he was the biological father of the son, a local court said yesterday.

The woman had sexual relationship with her boss and had a son with her boss. Meanwhile her ex-husband was diagnosed as infertile. But she convinced her ex-husband, surnamed Liu, that the son was his.

Liu's parents took care of the boy since he was born. Two years later, Liu and the woman divorced, but the boy was still being supported by his grandparents.

After Liu found the four-year-old boy was not his son through a paternity test, he filed a lawsuit against the woman, asking for 240,000 yuan in foster-care fees and compensation. Liu and his parents said they will no longer support the boy.
