Mourners queue up to memorize fire victims
Tens of thousands of Shanghai residents came to the November 15 fire site in Jing'an District today to mourn the people and families destroyed by the high-rise fire.
To help handle the increasing volume of mourners, police designated the Yanping Road, Yuyao Road cross as the only entry into the site.
A 28-story building at the crossroad of Jiaozhou Road and Yuyao Road caught fire on November 15 afternoon as fire sparkles caused by welding works landed on exposed inflammable materials. At least 58 people have been confirmed dead.
Everyone can enter the surrounding areas of the high-rise fire site but vehicles were banned. Vehicles can only reach Yanping Rd, Changping Rd intersection.
Mourners carrying items for victims, such as white and yellow chrysanthemums, flower wreathes and toys, can enter enclosed fire site areas. After the mourning, mourners were urged to leave the areas to make room for other mourners.
