National Day flag raising on Nanjing Road

THE flag raising ceremony to celebrate the National Day will be held in Century Square on Nanjing Road on Thursday morning.
It is expected nearly 2,000 people will gather to watch the ceremony, Oriental Morning Post reported today.
It is the first national flag raising ceremony in to be held in the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall since it was established in 1999, the report said.
Armed police soldiers will raise the flag at 7:30am.
Around 100 young pioneers will distribute small national flags and patriotic literature on the Pedestrian Mall that day.
The military parade in Tian'anmen Square will be broadcast in the square afterwards.
Three police helicopters hung will fly over the city suspending national flags.
