Natural island life
THE Madagascar Pavilion is in the Africa Joint Pavilion in Zone C of the Expo site, next to the Italy Pavilion, Lithuania Pavilion and South Africa Pavilion.
The pavilion's theme is "Living Naturally: Diversified Ecology, Culture, Development and Tourism."
To celebrate its National Pavilion Day today, a folk dancing troupe from the island nation will be giving performances at the Expo Center and the Africa Square.
Madagascar is the country with the world's largest number of endemic plants and animal species.
The pavilion is dedicated to showing the country's culture, the modernized lifestyle of its cities and its picturesque countryside.
Visitors to the pavilion will be able to see the unique silk weaving techniques of the island's inhabitants. In addition, finely woven handbags, wallets and baskets will make good souvenirs for visitors to the pavilion.
