New ‘Media+’ center set up in Shanghai

A “MEDIA+” center was unveiled at Shanghai International Studies University yesterday to converge all forms of media to serve education.

The SISU Center for Media+ is one of the first batch of 15 campus convergence media centers nationwide approved by the Ministry of Education.

During the unveiling ceremony, two new versions of the university’s website, one in Hungarian and another in Swahili, were added to its original 22 languages.

Since its multiple-language website was launched in December 2014, it has published more than 6,000 articles in 22 languages, including Chinese, English, French and Russian, with some of them quoted by Chinese and foreign media, as well as websites of embassies, consulates and other governmental organizations. The university has also established an editor team of more than 100 teachers and students from home and abroad.

The center also features partnerships with media and communities outside the campus.

Yesterday, the university also signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Daily. The newspaper will support the university’s school of journalism and communication. The university will share its resources with Shanghai Daily. The two will also enhance cooperation in education and the practice of international journalism and develop quality courses. The school will cultivate talent for Shanghai Daily, which in turn will provide internships.
