New cultural programs, events released for ongoing Citizens Art Festival

OFFICIALS from the ongoing fourth Shanghai Citizens Art Festival released a new batch of cultural programs and events all over the city this autumn.

The festival will run through the end of the year. In summer more than 8,000 events and activities have been hosted for local people.

From September to the end of November, the autumn chapter of the festival will organize over 6,000 events.

Among them will be ancient Chinese poetry contest, handicrafts competition, folk arts exhibition, traditional music performance and dance gala.

Photography exhibitions and lectures will also be offered to enthusiasts across the city.

A citywide culinary contest, co-hosted by Toonmax TV hopes to bring more busy people "back home" for reunion and family dinners. Family delicacies will be presented in the contest along with heartwarming memories of childhood.

Performing artists from local troupes of traditional theaters will also form a jury panel to discover young talented performers who have chance to become inheritors of intangible cultural heritage.
