No dialing while driving, cabbies told

TAXI drivers are banned from making mobile phone calls while carrying passengers from tomorrow, according to new rules by Shanghai's taxi watchdog.

And if their passengers agree they can take incoming calls, drivers must stop the car before answering, today's Oriental Morning Post reported,

Drivers must also be able to handle basic greetings in English and Japanese, and help passengers to safety while handling emergencies, the report said.

Taxi companies with a fleet of more than 200 cars must also have at least two cabs accessible to disabled passengers.
