SHANGHAI Railway Police said they have detained 577 fugitives and 1,235 other suspects so far this year.
Officers said high-definition surveillance cameras based at local railway stations and picture-compare system help to catch the fugitives. In a case last month, a man involved in a killing was caught the same day he fled, spotted among thousands of passengers.
