Online photos help police nail down woman driving opposite direction on city's one-way elevated road
CITY police said they have nailed down the guilty driver and had her punished after photos of her Audi sedan driving the opposite direction on downtown elevated road caused an online stir over the weekend.
Shanghai Police announced today that the local woman, 28, would have her driving license suspended and lose all the 12 demerit points on her license for the serious mistake in violation of road safety.
Some passers-by happened to take photos of the car running the opposite direction on the one-way driveway on the North-South Elevated Road Saturday noon and posted the photos online.
Police launched an investigation with the clues and found the driver, surnamed Pan. She allegedly told the police that she was unfamiliar with the roads there and mistakenly drove on the elevated road. So she thought she could just make a U-turn to return to get to the ground.
