Organic rules enforced

SOME 17 supermarkets and stores in the city that sold organic food without a verification code have been asked to rectify irregularities, the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau said yesterday.
Two cases of fabricating or using others' verification code labels and two cases of not using the code based on requirements are still being investigated and those involved will be punished, the watchdog said.
Also, "snow skin" or "ice skin" mooncakes produced by the Shanghai Mingkang Food Co Ltd in the Pudong New Area were recalled for excessive staphyloccocus aureus, which can cause a wide range of illnesses, from minor to very serious.
