Over 50,000 titles to browse at the 3rd China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair

MORE than 50,000 titles, targeting readers under the age of 16, will be on display at the 3rd China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair in Pudong from November 13, the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau announced today.

The organizers said some 300 publishers from over 30 countries and regions will be participating in the fair at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Convention Center.

The fair ends on November 15.

Fans of the Moomins can check out the booth featuring their beloved hippopotamus-like characters. The publishers will be celebrating the series’ 70th anniversary.

Authors and illustrators such as Erin Stead and Philip Stead, the winners of Randolph Caldecott Medals, and Cao Wenxuan, a popular Chinese children’s author, will meet fans and sign books during reading events.

About half of the exhibitors this year are from outside the Chinese mainland. The fair will also host a Nordic pavilion for the first time.

Tickets for November 13 has been priced at 30 yuan (US$4.7) and 50 yuan for November 14 and 15, but includes free admission for children under 1.4 meters.

The book fair organizers have said that there will be more reading activities during the weekend. The tickets and events schedule are available at http://www.ccbookfair.com/Visiting/3/ or “ccbookfair” on Wechat.
