Overseas NGOs register with Shanghai police

TWENTY-ONE more Shanghai representative offices of overseas NGOs have got registration certificates from Shanghai Public Security Bureau, police said today.
The NGOs come from the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.
They have joined 14 of their peers which got the certificates earlier this year after China’s new law on overseas NGOs took effect on January 1.
The overseas NGO management office of Shanghai Public Security Bureau said over 150 NGOs from 24 countries and regions outside the Chinese mainland have come to their registration counter for inquiry so far this year.
