A young couple has been caught stealing charity money from a Shanghai temple, police said today.

The two allegedly stole 1,580 yuan (US$232.74 ) on June 28 from a temple in Putuo District by using magnets or bamboo forks to take the money from donation boxes, officers said.

They were caught by temple workers at the scene, police said.
