Pair held for stealing from temple
A young couple has been caught stealing charity money from a Shanghai temple, police said today.
The two allegedly stole 1,580 yuan (US$232.74 ) on June 28 from a temple in Putuo District by using magnets or bamboo forks to take the money from donation boxes, officers said.
They were caught by temple workers at the scene, police said.
The female suspect was an ex-convict who stole charity money using the same methods before.
Both would be detained for 15 days, police said.
