Parade starts fun float at Expo

WORLD Expo Parade, one of the key events during Expo's 184 days in the site, yesterday started its first official tour.

With more than 920 performances, this largest and longest parade activity in World Expo history is expected to attract nearly 30 million visitors. Three teams will parade along two routes, one in Pudong area and the other in Puxi area, for a total of five times every day.

The parades depict a scene of cultural prosperity, harmony and joy in the ideal future cities.

The 1.8-kilometres-long parade route in Pudong starts at the crossroad of Bocheng Rd and Expo Axis. The floats move along Bocheng Rd towards Houtan Square. The first Pudong team, which consists of 200 actors and 11 big floats, will perform twice a day (3pm and 9pm) for 75 minutes each. Along the same route, another team would start its performance at sharp 12pm and its show lasts about one hour.

Visitors can enjoy them along Bocheng Rd or have a bird's view from Expo Axis and Elevated Pedestrians' Walk.

The parade in Puxi area is along Longhua Rd E. whose route covers 800 metres. Presenting the idea of innovation for future, the parade will tour at 5pm and 8pm every day. Visitors are encouraged to sing and dance along with the performers.

The exact timing of parade will change according to the weather on each given day.

"Till now, more 10 countries and international organisations have expressed their intention to join our parades," said Li Jicheng, the producer of the parade.
