Parents sue management after girl's toes crushed
THE family of a three-year-old girl is seeking compensation from a property management company after her foot was crushed under an outdoor stone table when it collapsed.
Doctors had warned she might need her toes amputated after she was rushed to hospital on July 8.
After two operations, she was released from hospital yesterday. Doctors said the toes could be saved but had been seriously damaged and rehabilitation would be a long process.
Property management workers said they had reported the case to their officials for further instructions and argued that the producer of the table and the community developer should also take responsibility.
"The table was simply glued together without steel wires or bars inside," said the girl's father, Xia Fei.
The family live in the Liancheng Community on Dongjing Road in the Pudong New Area and the accident happened when the girl was playing with friends.
