Pavilion to stay open
THE "Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together" Pavilion, a separate 250-square-meter structure among the national pavilions in Zone C of the Expo site, will remain open longer than planned, possibly to the end of the event.
The unique building showcases events and achievements from a three-year collaborative project that started in 2007 and features bilateral cooperation in culture, tourism, education, environment and trade, among others.
The building, made of recyclable bamboo, was intended to be closed and dismantled on June 30 but due to its popularity, organizers have decided to prolong the exhibitions.
Germany's ambassador to China, Dr Michael Schaefer, attended the "closing" ceremony yesterday and said it would operate until July 15 and possibly would be sustained till the end of the Expo.
He also introduced the completed German-Chinese House, the result of an interactive virtual game called "Let's Jump" in which visitors can build virtual houses on screen by moving their bodies.
